Guitar / Bass Instructor
I started playing guitar at the age of 12. By the time I turned 13, I was drawn to the bass and learned to play that as well. I played bass in high school orchestra while studying privately under Brian Gill, now associate professor of voice and voice vedagogy at Indiana University. I have also studied jazz improvisation under Bill Hanna, a local Charlotte treasure.
My teaching style involves sight reading, ear training, music theory with a focus on improvisation, advanced chord theory, economy of motion techniques, and having a ton of fun doing it.
I have been performing professionally since the age of 15. I had the incredible opportunity of performing with a group of musicians ten years my senior throughout the rest of my teen years. This experience gave me an edge that other players my age didn’t have. I have had a gig and been a go-to as a substitute player ever since. Currently, I am the bass player for Honey and the Habeneros , a corporate/wedding variety band; as well as Badmotorfinger, a Soundgarden tribute.
I live in Charlotte, NC with my four year old daughter and two dogs.
