Doug Nortons Bio

Doug Norton studied woodwind performance at the University of Montevallo in Alabama and has over 12 years of live professional performance experience in 13 states. He has shared the stage with such names as Snarky Puppy, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and The Temptations and is currently the Musical Director for local Chicago Tribute band “Chicago Rewired”.

“I believe in a rounded approach to music education that includes technique and note reading, but also a focus on creativity, improvisation, and music appreciation. I believe every student can create their own unique musical identity and that exposure to different musical ideas is the path to unlock it. While I think a strong focus on basic to advanced technique is monumentally important, I also think it’s important for students to be involved with the creative aspect of music and encourage them to create and share ideas.”
